Miss Kelly Fuiks, 19, of Phoenix, Ariz., defeated Miss Kathy Williams, of La Cresent, Minn., 1 up, to become the first Women's Amateur Public Links Champion. The Championship was played at the yahara Hills Golf Course (East Course) in Madison, Wis.

Miss Fuiks also helped Arizona win the Team Championship played in conjunction with the qualifying rounds. Mrs. Diana Schwab, of Kettering, Ohio, was medalist with a score of 149, on rounds of 73 and 76. She was defeated in the third round by Miss Barbara Hoffmeister, of Rifle, Colo., 1 up.

Miss Fuiks defeated Miss Hoffmeister, her teammate at Arizone State University, 2 and 1, in the semi-final round. In the other semifinal match, Miss Williams defeated Miss Lenore Muraoka, of Honolulu, 1 up. The Championship drew an entry of 686 players.

ADMISSION - Admission is free. Tickets are not needed for this USGA championship and spectators are encouraged to attend.
