of Kettering, Ohio, 5 and 4, to win her second consecutive Women's
Amateur Public Links Championship. The Championship, originated
in 1977, was played at the Myrtlewood Golf Course (Palmetto Course)
in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The co-medalists with 36-hole scores of 151 were Miss Kathy Williams,
of Minneapolis Minn., the 1977 runner up; and Miss Jeanne Hartman,
of Miami, Fla. Miss Williams lost in the first round to Laura Bencriscutto,
5 and 4. Miss Hartman lost a quarter-final match to Mrs. Schwab,
the 1977 medalist, 1 up. In the semi-final round, Miss Fuiks defeated
Miss Sarah LeVeque, and 1977 quarter-finalist, ousted Miss Debbie
Johnston, 3 and 2.
In the final, Miss Fuiks was 3 up after the first nine holes.
The lead was increased to five holes with birdies at the 10th and
11th holes. She closed out the match by holing a five-foot putt
at the 14th hole. The Miami, Fla., Team of Miss Hartman, Miss Patrice

was short of the 686 received for the first WAPL in 1977.
